Sleep Apnea and Heart Disease
The connection between sleep apnea and heart disease is evolving very rapidly.
Here are a few points to consider:
- People who on average slept over seven hours a night were at a reduced risk of developing new coronary artery calcifications over five years.
- At least 50 percent of patients with heart failure suffer from sleep apnea
- There is good evidence showing a cause and effect relationship betwen hypertension and sleep apnea.
- A number of studies have shown treating sleep apnea improves heart failure, high blood pressure and diabetes.
